ORBIT Basics: Six Step Experiment Life Cycle

A typical experiment requires the following six steps:

Reserve a set of nodes/resources from a domain to run the experiment on.

Access the corresponding domain console.

Install an image on the hard disks of the nodes. After imaging the nodes are turned off automatically.

Turn the nodes back on to run the experiment (give them some time and check their status with omf stat before proceeding).

Run the experiment (in this case execute "Hello World" built in experiment) and analyze the results.

  1. (optionally) Save the image

If you did something to the image definitely save it before the end of your time slot!
