Introduction

The dominance of mobile devices motivates separation of network entities'name identifiers from their network locators in order to support seamless mobile service son the Internet. To realize the separation, a key challenge is the design of a salable global name resolution service that rapidly and reliably resolves name identities to network locators under high mobility.

In this project, we describe GMap,a DHT-based in-network global name resolution service with low computing and storage requirements. GMap provides fast lookup services for identity-to-locator mappings while achieving server workload balance in the presence of skewed lookup popularity. With our work, we design a lightweight scheme suitable for in-network implementation with low computing and storage requirements at any point in the network.
