Hardware/bDomains/aGrid
v34 v35 2 2 [[TOC(Hardware,Hardware/bDomains*, depth=5)]] 3 3 4 Block diagram of the ORBIT Grid domain is shown in Figure 1. It consist of 20 x 20 nodes arranged in the grid (20 rows with 20 nodes each) with spacing of 3 feet. 4 Block diagram of the ORBIT Grid domain is shown in Figure 1. Main components of this domain are: 5 * Grid nodes: 20 x 20 machines arranged in the grid configuratoin (20 rows with 20 nodes each) with spacing of 3 feet. 6 * Massive-MIMO racks: four mini-racks of SDRs with 32 antennas each 7 * Servers: number of servers of varying capabilities 8 * Virtual machines: number of on-demand VM instances 9 * Noise injection subsystem: 10 * Support infrastructure: Ethernet switches, console and other support hardware 5 11 6 12 || [[Image(ORBITGridBD.jpg, 400px)]] || 7 13 || Figure 1: ORBIT GRID || 8 14 9 Console, Switches ... 15 ==== Massive-MIMO mini-racks ==== 10 16 11 ==== Noise Generation ==== 17 18 || [[Image(Mimo.jpg, 400px)]] || 19 || Figure 2: Massive-MIMO mini-rack || 20 21 ==== Servers ==== 22 23 Number of hihger-core count/larger memory servers some of which are equipped with GPUs. 24 25 ==== Noise Injection subsystem ==== 12 26 13 27 The Centralized Arbitrary Waveform Injection Subsystem (CAWIS) consists of arbitrary waveform generator (Agilent ESG) connected through distribution network to four multi-band antennas located in the four corners of the grid. The distribution network enables control over the attenuation of the individual antenna feed. Using CAWIS, users can inject (among other types of waveforms) AWGN signals into the main ORBIT grid and thus create different topologies. 14 28 15 29 16 ==== Noise Antennas in the Grid====30 ===== Noise Antennas in the Grid ===== 17 31 18 32 |||| Figure 2: CAWIS ||
