Hi puneet:

Below are the commands that I usually do to set up ad-hoc mode:

wlanconfig ath0 destroy
wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode adhoc
iwconfig ath0 essid test
ifconfig ath0 1.1.1.1

Then try to ping each other to see the setup is successful or not.

Subject: [orbit-user] problem with adhoc mode of ath0 interface

  Hi,

I am trying to use the the ath0 interface of the nodes in the Ad-Hoc mode.
When i log into the nodes and use iwconfig command, it displays the mode as Managed.

I tried to change the mode using
  iwconfig ath0 mode Ad-hoc
         but the result was
Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) :
SET failed on device ath0 ; Invalid argument.

Then i tried to destroy and recreate the interface as follows:

  ifconfig ath0 down
  wlanconfig ath0 destroy
wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode adhoc
  ifconfig ath0 up

the result of these commands was that the system hung..
I tried it many times but all the times the system hung.

How do i use the interface in Ad-hoc mode?

  Thanks,
  Puneet
