Hmm it works for me:

seskar at console.grid:~# host ntp2                                                                             
ntp2.grid.orbit-lab.org CNAME   gdhcp2.grid.orbit-lab.org
gdhcp2.grid.orbit-lab.org       A       10.10.0.8
seskar at console.grid:~#   

Can you please try again - it might have been DNS propagation issue. Also we have round robin for the two names with  ntp.grid.orbit-lab.org (even though grid is served by the cashing servers so it is not clear how much real distribution we get).

ntp1.grid.orbit-lab.org is working well., but ntp2 is unknown:

node1-1:~# ntpdate ntp2.grid.orbit-lab.org Error : Name or service not known
 2 Jul 11:30:05 ntpdate[2701]: can't find host ntp2.grid.orbit-lab.org
 2 Jul 11:30:05 ntpdate[2701]: no servers can be used, exiting
