ORBIT-USER: Ad-hoc mode on Atheros node using nodehandler

Hi

I wish to configure the ath0 interface in adhoc mode.
I am able to do this on the node using wlanconfig.
However when I try to do the same in a nodehandler script using
    node.net.w0.mode = "ad-hoc"
I get an error
ERROR CONFIGURE_ERROR: Couldn't configure 'net/w0/mode' on 'n_1_6':

I checked the documentation and it says that "ad-hoc" mode is only supported
for intel nodes.

Is there a way to use the ad-hoc mode for atheros cards in a nodehandler
script?
